Sandy Lane Barbados is a luxury 5 star resort on the Platinum coast in Saint James, Barbados. A brain child of Ronald Tree, this resort was opened for business in 1961 over what used to be an old sugar plantation named ‘Sandy Lane’. The old resort was renovated in 1998 after a change in ownership and the new resort reopened in 2001. It is among the leading hotels in the world and has one of the finest luxury golf courses ever built.
First Impression

Sandy Lane features 112 guest rooms and suites and a 5 bedroom villa; each room air-conditioned and equipped with a well stocked bar, in-room entertainment system, wi-fi internet, luxury marble bathroom and a large terrace or balcony.
The different categories of rooms are:
- Orchid suites are overlooking the tropical gardens. The luxury Orchid suites have two bedrooms, a living area and terrace
- Ocean suites have wonderful sea views, the luxury Ocean suites being more spacious
- Dolphin suites have a large living room and a beautiful sea facing balcony. The Luxury Dolphin suites are again more spacious than the former.
- The Penthouses in the Orchid wing have two bedrooms overlooking a beautiful garden and have a luxury bathroom with whirlpool tub.
- The Villa at Sandy Lane is a five bedroom spacious mini palace, beautiful set in the middle of a garden.
Dining
At Sandy Lane, there are many restaurants, café and bars to suit the taste of every guest. Bajan Blue is the all day diner in a casual, beach-facing open air setting. It specializes in Caribbean, Chinese and Continental cuisine and serves some awesome seafood. It also has a sushi bar and a drinks bar.
For those who love European food, there is the L’Acajou with its Continental, French and Mediterranean cuisine. The settings are again beach facing open air and it is a nice place to enjoy fine dining with exquisite wines.
The Clubhouse restaurant showcases seasonal specialties and home-made-like desserts. The Spa Café on the poolside offers delicious salads and sandwiches throughout the day.
Apart from the restaurants and café, Sandy Lane has a couple of watering holes for those who love being in high spirits. The Country Club Bar with a panoramic view of the golf course boats of an extensive cocktail menu. The Monkey Bar serves pre dinner drinks.
Indulge
Sandy Lane offers some of the best Golf in the world with three golf courses, The Old Nine, The Country Club and the world-famous Green Monkey. Constructed in 1961, The Old Nine is the oldest of the three, it is considered intimate yet demanding because of its small greens and compact tree-lined freeways.
The Country Club is considered a Golfer’s paradise, with lush greens, lakes and beautiful fairways. This 7000 yards golf course also provides a breathtaking view of the Caribbean sea. The 2006 World Golf Championship was hosted here.
The Green Monkey, the most renowned of the lot is an exclusive 72 par golf course. Carved out of an abandoned stone query, this 7343 yard golf course boasts of some dramatic landscaping with lush greens and exposed rock-fronts.
The Barbados Spa of Sandy Lane, a 47,000 square feet of indulgence, provides an array of services like massage, body treatment, aromatherapy and other stuff to pamper you and keep your body, mind and soul in perfect harmony with each other.
