“Mumbai is a city, Bombay is an emotion”

The city of dreams truly lives up to these emotions and engulfs you the moment you reach its shores. Bombay or Mumbai, as one would to call, has  inspired a million dreams, aspirations and ideas, be the Bollywood, the Mumbai locals or its culture and special quick fix cuisine..

Ab yeh taala main teri jeb se chabi nikaalkar hi kholoonga Peter…

Last week, we happened to visit The Bombay Bronx, an all day restaurant and bar off the DP Road in Pune. This quirky  is a perfect ode to the maximum city and a visual treat at that. Once you walk in to the restaurant is like walking in a street in Colaba. The decor is done up thoughtfully and the attention to details is remarkable. One half of the interiors is styled like an Irani cafe and the other half is inspired by the lifeline of Mumbai – the local trains. The outdoor seating is more spaced out and perfect for fun evening with friends. Everywhere one can see, there is an imprint of Mumbai – in quotes, Dabbawala lunchboxes, pan stall, tea pots and of course Amitabh Bachchan who would open the lock only after taking it from the pockets of Peter!

Coming to the food, the menu is filled with delicious chats, stuffed basa thecha, crispy spinach, vada pau and much more. We tried the weekend Bombay style  brunch which served some starters – dhokla pakoda, kothambir wadi, anda bajji, chicken pops. The extensive menu had chats, sandwiches, egg bhurji, keema pau along with rice and gravies. For dessert we has jalebis and mini brownies.

The Finger Food ..

The most interesting of the menu items are the signature cocktails. From Pani puri Caipirojka and  Iced Peru to Imli Mojito and Aam panna. The Iced Peru in particular is a must try !

Maal and Kadak Maal 😛

All in all a sweet little homage to Bombay and a treat to the gastronomic senses, this place has something to offer to everyone.  The prices are a little on the higher side but it is worth a visit.

Whether you have been to Bombay or not, this new place will make you feel  like you know the city well. Do visit this place and share with us your favorite menu items.
