Jamaica is a wonderful Caribbean destination for your vacations, but this place brings much more than a simple place to relax and wonderful beaches. Jamaica is considered one of the best islands in the Caribbean due to the fact that it successfully manages to integrate a great location with a beautiful lifestyle as well as a wonderful cuisine.

There are numerous tasty foods in Jamaica, served in many restaurants that can be found all over the country. However, there are a few that simply stand out thanks to their impressive menus and attention to detail.

Jack Sprat

This restaurant can be found in Ocho Rios, right near the beach. It brings a great atmosphere, with themed music, film posters and even album covers on the walls. The menus are comprised out of Jamaican Pizza and local specialities, including the fabled seafood that so many visitors love.

Scotchie’s

You can find a Scotchie’s restaurant in New Kingston, Ocho Rios and Montego Bay, and each one of them is set in a beautiful tropical garden with bar and tables in gazebos. You can choose to pay in advance, and once you get there, you have the opportunity to taste the fabled jerk. The barbecue and cooked meat found here is unique, as you can’t find something better anywhere in the country. You can add some sauce into the mix, but the local jerk is spicy as it is.

The Almond Tree

This restaurant resides in Ocho Rios and is set on a cliff-top terrace. It has an almond tree that grew through the roof, so the owners added some interesting swinging chairs into the mix which offer a unique way to unwind and eat. The food you can eat here is very different, you can go with either local specialities or international ones, depending on your taste or budget. You can choose kingfish in coconut, pumpkin soup, local lobster thermidor or any other speciality available here. The restaurant has a very large menu so no matter how picky you are, you’re definitely going to find something you like here.

Sweet Spice

This Negril-based restaurant has a very unique appeal thanks to the fact that it resides in a wooden, alpine looking building. Don’t be fooled, as the place has air conditioning as well as many other improvements. Here you can eat anything from conch steak to oxtail, stewed beef and so on. There are also some international delicacies here, just make sure to go through the menu and order them if you want something like that.

To sum up, there are many good restaurants in Jamaica, so no matter where you choose to accommodate, you are bound to find a great place to eat. All you need to do is to make sure that you book your hotel by the beach in advance, then visit one of the restaurants presented above. You certainly won’t regret doing that!
